"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple" (Psalm 27:4 KJV).
Moses was 80 years-old when God called him into ministry (Exodus 3). He faithfully served the Lord in what turned out to be the most productive years of his life. Likewise, many seniors (50+) are just now entering their peak years as wage-earners and/or business owners. 50+ is not just a time to sit back, relax and coast to the finish line.
There's more to being a senior than endless buffets and bingo.
For one thing, it is a time to encourage younger believers who often reach out for guidance: Moses discipled Joshua, Samuel discipled David, Elijah discipled Elisha and Paul discipled Timothy. The next generation benefits from interaction with those who have gone before. Someday the reins will be pass completely, but, until then we continue "to press toward the mark for the prize" (Phil. 3:14).
